Where Love and Care Merge: Our Story

Our journey began with a love for dogs and a desire to create a safe haven for them. Founded by a team of experienced dog caregivers, Nanny Toebeans was born out of a deep commitment to enriching the lives of our four-legged companions. We pride ourselves on providing a home away from home, where every tail wags with joy and every dog is treated like family.

Our Mission:

At Nanny Toebeans, we believe in a dog-centered approach to care, where every dog is treated as an individual with unique needs, preferences, and abilities. We prioritize their emotional well-being, ensuring they lead the activity, guiding us through stress-free walks and enriching experiences. Our goal is not just to exercise dogs but to engage their minds and bodies through activities like enrichment trips to forests and fields, where diverse stimuli allow for natural exploration and growth.

Our ethical approach to dog care ensures that each dog is comfortable, happy, and safe. From solo walks tailored to their temperament to group activities designed with their safety in mind, we make sure that dogs never feel forced or anxious. We closely monitor their health and communicate openly with owners, ensuring peace of mind for all. Nanny Toebeans is committed to ongoing education in ethical training practices, guaranteeing the best care for your dog.

As we grow, our aim is to create a nurturing community where both dogs and their owners feel supported. Success for us is measured by the happiness of our dogs, the trust of our clients, and the opportunity to continue offering innovative, dog-centered services. We are here to help your dog lead a fulfilling, engaged, and well-behaved life.

Our Values:

  1. Dog-Centered Care
Every dog’s unique needs, preferences, and comfort come first. Dogs are not forced but lead the activities based on their physical and emotional well-being.

  2. Ethical and Humane Practices
Prioritizing stress-free, compassionate treatment that respects each dog's autonomy. Using ethical training methods to foster positive, natural behaviors.

About Lauren

As a passionate animal lover, I understand the deep bond between pets and their owners. I recognize that entrusting your beloved companion to a stranger can be a daunting experience. Therefore, I strive to provide comprehensive information about my services, ensuring you feel confident and informed. During our initial meeting, I welcome your questions and will share my diverse background that informs my commitment to delivering exceptional care driven by genuine passion.

With extensive experience caring for both dogs and cats, I have devoted many years to looking after the pets of friends and family, in addition to providing professional dog walking services. I have owned dogs and cats myself and have also engaged in house-sitting for various clients, including those with chickens, through Trusted House Sitters. One of my most memorable experiences involved caring for a vocal Bengal cat and a century-old tortoise. My love for animals is further enriched by my dedication to learning; I frequently immerse myself in animal documentaries and often spend my leisure time at nature-related environments such as falconry. I draw inspiration from renowned figures like Jane Goodall and other scientists, particularly in my work with dogs.

My diverse background equips me with unique skills that enhance my ability to connect with animals. I am trained in multiple disciplines that have honed my empathy and my capacity to read body language—crucial skills for effectively working with animals. My professional journey has included roles as a therapist, massage therapist, nanny, and actress. I have a strong interest in development and how both children and animals learn and communicate. Currently, I am pursuing a Level 3 qualification in Canine Care, Behaviour, and Welfare, with aspirations to become a qualified behaviourist.

In my care, I find that dogs best suited to my environment tend to be schnauzers, poodles, doodles, and small to medium breeds. I have particular experience with doodles, poodles, and schnauzers, yet I take delight in supporting a variety of breeds and temperaments. My dog care services are designed with the same thoughtful approach one would expect from a nursery, structured around the specific needs of the dogs, safety, and hygiene.

I assess each dog carefully before determining the most suitable activities. Typically, our daily routine includes morning walks, afternoon mental stimulation, and a restorative nap, followed by additional play or another walk. Throughout these activities, I provide visual cues to guide the dogs through different phases of the day. In instances of extreme weather, I adapt our schedule to include early morning walks of shorter duration, encouraging reduced activity levels during particularly hot or cold conditions. Instead, I prioritize enriching activities to keep the dogs engaged and happy.
